Being Old Kills
I'm too old to waste my time on things that waste my time
What you’re good at your bad at
Good at music? How good? Compared to who?
Good at thinking? What's your track record? Mostly wrong?
Good at being cool? How’d that work out for you?
Good at being thoughtful?
Good at being the smartest person in the room? Anyone still like you?
Good at playing it safe? Any regrets?
Have you lived long enough and processed enough relationships to discover the downside of being the most talented, smartest or coolest person in the room?
Thats the strategic advantage being old gives you.
That’s why being old kills (yes literally) but until then, being old kills in terms of having finally gained enough experience - having lived through it - having been alert most of the time while traveling through it to finally be able to make choices and decisions about things that really matter such as
Who do you think you actually are?
Who do you care about and why do you care about them?
What do you intend to do with the 5/10/20 years you hope you have left to do something?
What’s the one thing that makes you being alive a little longer worth trying to do?
That’s enough for now…

Good thoughts., Jim. The Dunning-Kruger Effect is alive at every age.
